The Australian boxing team is ready to rumble following the presentation of their official team track suits at Smithy’s Gym today.
John Geiger, who the Cup Australia and Brazil will fight for is named after,handed the uniforms to captain Brayd Smith, Jack Asis, Darren Askew, Kris George and Will Young in front of a parochial crowd of
well wishers,sponsors and fellow fighters.

“It means a lot to have this Cup
named after myself and I couldn’t be prouder of the five boys who will represent Australia on Friday night, John Geiger said.
It was quite a moving ceremony and it clearly inspired the Australian team.
“Today was really special, Australian captain Brayd Smith said.
“To be here and to have our peers, family, friends and the sponsors who make it possible for us to chase our dreams, to support us was amazing.
Among the sponsors in attendance where Cameron Mayes from the Irish Club Hotel, Paul Reedy from K and R Plumbing Supplies, Mick George from Southern Cross Automotive, Tanya Hennessy from HotFM and John Geiger of the Geiger Group.
“That was such a big lift for us,”Australian Featherweight champion Will Young said.
“For these guys to take time out of their busy schedules to be there for us, is incredible – we want to win for them as well just to show our appreciation for what they do. “
The Brazilians, will arrive in the Garden City early tomorrow morning and will complete their final fight preparations in the Garden City.

“These guys are coming to fight we know that, especially my opponent Fernando Ferreira Da Silva, pulling on that Australian jacket tonight has just spurred me on even more, undefeated Queensland champion Kris George said.
Promoter Brendon Smith has no doubts the crowd will see some of the most exciting boxing it has ever seen come Friday night.
“These aren’t easy fights,you’re talking about fighters who have been World title contenders, Regional champions and National champions in the very competitive South American boxing scene.” Brendon Smith said.
“The show has attracted attention world wide and it will be live streamed on www.liveboxing.com.au.
“It’s a night where stars will be born and some of Toowoomba’s established names will be hoping to move onto bigger and better things.
“Once those lights come on you will see five guys from Australia and five guys from Brazil fighting for themselves, their gym, their families and their countries.
“We really want to keep the John Geiger Cup in the Garden City.”
